About TOM
NCU TOM is the operations plane for the Lulin Observatory and the upcoming Trans-Pacific 2-m Telescope (TP2m).
TOM coordinates target curation, observation scheduling, photometry pipeline output, a mirrored TNS transient catalogue and live broker alerts for the Lulin Observatory. It is built and maintained at the National Central University Graduate Institute of Astronomy.
TP2m places a two-metre telescope under the pristine skies of San Pedro Mártir, Baja California — a continent and twelve time zones from Lulin. Led by the NCU Graduate Institute of Astronomy, it is a milestone for Taiwan's astronomy community.
Paired with Lulin (Taiwan) and the Rubin Observatory (Chile), TP2m closes a trans-Pacific “golden triangle.” When Taiwan sleeps, Mexico observes — and vice versa — giving TOM an eye that never closes for supernovae, gravitational-wave counterparts and other fast transients.
