About TOM
NCU TOM is the operations plane for the Lulin Observatory and the upcoming Trans-Pacific 2-m Telescope (TP2m).
TOM coordinates target curation, observation scheduling, pipeline output and live transient alerts for the Lulin Observatory. It is built and maintained at the National Central University Graduate Institute of Astronomy.
TP2m places a two-metre telescope under the pristine skies of San Pedro Mártir, Baja California — a continent and twelve time zones from Lulin. Led by the NCU Graduate Institute of Astronomy, it is a milestone for Taiwan's astronomy community.
Paired with Lulin (Taiwan) and the Rubin Observatory (Chile), TP2m closes a trans-Pacific “golden triangle.” When Taiwan sleeps, Mexico observes — and vice versa — giving TOM an eye that never closes for supernovae, gravitational-wave counterparts and other fast transients.
